Why do I need to register EClean
if it is free to download? |
 |
The
software is free for download and trial use for 21 days, the
one-time fee & registration allows you to
add a permanent profile to use EClean with no monthly or
yearly fees. |
| |
|
 |
How do I register the software? |
 |
Click the "Purchase" button or
Load this page, and purchase the desired
number of "credits" from the dropdown list. Check
your E-mail, there will be a message there with the "software"
unlock code, enter it and the E-mail address you used when
purchasing the credit(s). Then
login and encrypt an E-mail
address, doing so uses one credit and allows you to unlock
EClean for the same. The unlock key is e-mailed to
you. Follow the
instructions here to
register the software. |
| |
|
 |
How much will I
have to pay for upgraded versions of EClean in the future? |
 |
All future versions of the
software are free for registered users, just download and
install following the supplied instructions. |
| |
|
 |
How do I purchase the software license? |
 |
A
license to use the software is included when you encrypt an
address and get an unlock key.

| |
|
 |
How many users can use a licensed version EClean? |
 |
As
many as you like, whatever fits your needs best. |
| |
|
 |
Can I use EClean at home and at work at the same time, or on a laptop
when I'm on the road? |
 |
Yes,
the software was designed specifically to allow just such use. |
| |
|
 |
Is EClean a good defense against viruses and worm threats? |
 |
If
the message containing the worm or virus is coming from
someone listed as a trusted sender or from a trusted Domain
you will receive it. If the sender is not listed as such, the
message will be listed for review with the other suspect UCEs
or automatically deleted, depending on how you have setup
EClean. The real answer is, No:
You should always maintain an
up-to-date antivirus solution and run it as a service at
startup. |
| |
|
 |
EClean won't login
to my mailbox... It says "There was an error, please restart
the application"... what could be wrong? |
 |
You
are having troubles logging onto your POP server, check to see
if you are using the correct username and password. As a last
resort, call your ISP and ask them if they can login to your
box with EClean. Provide them with information as necessary. |
| |
|
 |
Can messages deleted off of my POP server be "undeleted?" |
 |
No,
there is no way to recover deleted messages. Be very careful
about using the automated features of EClean. A good rule of
thumb is to not automate until you have used the software for
a few months and have become familiar with it. |
| |
|
 |
What is the difference between a Trusted Sender and a Trusted
Domain? |
 |
Both
are whitelists... lists of people you trust to send you mail.
One list trusts just the specific sender and the other list trusts
every sender under a Domain name. It is easier to add a comma
separated list of 80 clients and then turn on the feature to
automatically add valid senders to the trusted senders list
than it is to "blacklist" 2000 spammers and IP
addresses. |
| |
|
 |
Why do some messages not display properly when I preview them? |
 |
Only
messages formatted with valid TXT and HTML can be viewed. Some
messages can have Macromedia Flash content, etcetera... that
is not under the "HTML" umbrella. Support may be added to view
other types of content in future versions of EClean. |
| |
|
 |
How do I remove an e-mail address profile from EClean? |
 |
Start
EClean, select the address you want to remove from the
dropdown list, then click the button to the right that reads
"Remove Email" then confirm the dialog box that comes up...
the profile will be removed. |
| |
|
 |
Can the EClean software be uninstalled? |
 |
Yes,
the software comes pre-packaged to be uninstalled. Use the
Windows "Add / Remove Programs" feature in your control panel
to remove EClean if you so choose to. |
| |
|
 |
How can I get the
E-mail messages sent by people reading my E-mail address off our advertising, business cards or letterheads? Won't
EClean delete them? |
 |
You can
turn on the "Send Awareness Email" feature within the settings
of EClean.. or you can call
and ask your ISP to configure your E-mailbox to use the
vacation message feature of your ISP's e-mail server...
here is an example message...
.... then modify the example or create your own. Further, you
can replace your e-mail address on such correspondences with
the contact page for your Website, then after some time you
can shut down the vacation / auto-reply / out-of-office
message. |
| |
|
 |
How can I tell everyone that I already correspond with how to E-mail
me? |
 |
Export all the contacts in your address book from your E-mail
client to a comma separated list and import the list into
EClean's trusted senders list. This way you do not have to
tell them anything. To be sure... I'd recommend turning on
trusted senders, then turning on add valid senders
automatically... then broadcast a message to everyone you
correspond with, sending them to the auto-generated link page
for your address and have them send a short message. |
| |
|
 |
What about future clients that are visiting my Website, how will
they know what to do? |
 |
If
you have trusted senders on and automatically add valid
senders turned on you should not have a problem. Once you get
a message from a new client he/she will be added to trusted
senders. As the sender could have multiple e-mail addresses at
work or others from the same company may contact you, the best
practice is to set the whole domain as trusted. |
| |
|
 |
How can I be assured that follow-up correspondences (CC:, BCC:, FW:,
and RE:) are not deleted by EClean when I pursue leads from my
Website? |
 |
If
you have trusted senders on and automatically add valid
senders turned on you should not have a problem. If the sender
could have multiple e-mail addresses at work, then set the
whole domain as trusted. |
| |
|
 |
What is the easiest way for me to setup the same EClean
configuration on multiple machines? |
 |
Follow
the path from C: to your "Program Files" folder, open the
folder EClean and copy the file named zap.mdb to a floppy or
CD-ROM.
Copying this file to the same folder location on a second machine
will duplicate your settings. |
| |
|
 |
Does EClean download my mail from my POP server to my hard drive? |
 |
No, it
stays on the server until you delete it as spam with EClean or
download the message with your regular E-mail client. |
| |
|
 |
How does EClean know if an E-mail is a spam message? |
 |
EClean
can't tell if a message is spam... it looks for and sorts
messages it knows are not spam. It does this with a special
code and the trusted senders lists. The code in the subject
line is a "profile" of the address that was encrypted. This
code is unique to the address and EClean knows messages with
it are valid messages sent by users clicking on your link. |
| |
|
 |
Does EClean support IMAP mailboxes? |
 |
Not yet,
as it is not a protocol in widespread use on the Internet.
However, we will look to add this support in a future version.
Further, EClean does not work with Hotmail or Yahoo Mail... in
a nutshell, you need a POP box to login to. |
